      Vallavila is an amazing coastal area of Kollemcode and a place where people from diverse caste reside as unity. Latin Catholic believers; most of them are from Mukkuva caste, Muslim people and Hindu people from Araya & Thandar caste are the majority of people dwelling in this beautiful coastal place. 60 percentages of the people are Latin Catholic believers. Tamil and Malayalam are the medium of communication being seen from people of this place, and the kind of pronunciation which comes out as consequences of mixture of Tamil and Malayalam languages is totally different.

This place got sufficient material to show that India had been ruled by Portuguese people. In 1544, St.Xaviour visited coastal places of Kerala and subsequently developed a good relation with Thiruvithamkoor Sovereignty, and followed by that, he urged all fishermen living in 13 coastal areas from Kollam to Kanyakumari for Religious Conversion. Vallavila is one of those 13 coastal areas.

Fishing is the main work of people from this coastal place and, obviously, that is their source of income. Apart from this, most of the people are involved in rope making businesses. And also, Ice Factories and fishnet production factories are also running at this place earnestly.

A magnificent bridge has been built across Anantha Victoria Marthandavarma (AVM) Canal a result of continuous efforts and hardship of people from this place, recently.

St.Merry  Church and Sree Rajarajeswari Temple situated at the seashore and near by Mosque are the main worship centres of this lovely and beautiful place.   

LMS Primary School and St.Judes Middle School are the main educational centres of this place, yet Govt Higher Secondary School is also situated very next to them.

Since it is a coastal area, and due to presence of so many canals, by default this place portrays an alluring beauty of nature. And addition of the vast coconut tree estate and lakeshore to this place even make this place an attractive place to live & enjoy and prompt us to savour the beauty of nature by sitting in the seashore.
