Ilambalamuk Mahadev Temple

Ilambalamuk Mahadev temple is situated 1 km away from Kannanagm Junction on the way to Kollemcode Venkanji Sree Bhadrakali Temple and it is seen nearby road just before the temple. The famous Kollemcode Govt. Higher Secondary School is also situated just ahead of this temple. The surrounding of this temple is covered with beauty of nature. “Shivarathri” is the most important festival of this temple which is being celebrated auspiciously in every year.

This temple was being disguised for so many years, but recently it has been renovated with the help of Kollemcode people. This Four Corner Shrine is being astonishingly renovated in such a way to ensure that this temple has not lost its historic cultural heritage. “Mahadev” is the main deity of this temple and besides it is surrounded with shrines for worshipping other deities, “Ganapathi” and “Naga”.

Since it is situated very near to Kollemcode venkanji Temple, during Meenbharani Thookkam festival this temple is also getting thronged by devotees. Offerings conducted during Thookkam festival such as “Kuthiyottam” and “Thalappoli” are generally commenced from this temple to process towards Sree Bhadrakali Temple. Kuthiyottam and Thalappoli are the traditional rituals performed in most of the temple in which boys and girls, respectively, wear traditional attire and perform offerings for deities.

Ilambalamuk is generally known as three-corner place from which roads are going to Kannanagm, Nidhravila and Vallavila. The temple is located exactly at the centre of this junction. Close to this temple, there had been a textile industry which provided employment to so many people of Kollemcode, but unfortunately the industry is not present now. A religious study centre is being running here for children on every Sunday and also a special devotional orchestra (Bhajana) is also being performed here on every Monday. ABC Matriculation School and Govt. Women Hostel are also located nearby to this temple.
